The District Council of Yankalilla and the Commonwealth Home Support programme (CHSP) have jointly funded a transport service for people over the age of 65 or disadvantaged residents to assist with their shopping and social needs until June 2018.
The shopping service operates on Thursday of each week, connecting eligible people from the towns of Cape Jervis, Delamere, Second Valley and Carrickalinga to businesses in Normanville and Yankalilla. Passengers will incur a small subsidised charge.
On the second Wednesday of each month a mystery/movie shopping trip is run, which provides an opportunity for residents to experience a surprise outing of interest and the shopping aspect provides trips to larger centres for more specialised purchases.
The subsidised cost of these outings is published on regular monthly advertising flyers which also confirm the date and times.
Seats are limited to 10 persons and bookings for both services are essential.
Bookings can be made Monday – Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm on 8558 0200.
